Iris is the goddess of spring. A winged goddess, impetuous as a storm, she was known to be the currier for the Olympus gods.
With the momentum of the rainfall, she reached the earth from Mount Olympus and from there the sea. She was daughter of Oceanis nymph Electra and wife to Zephyr, who was the gentle western wind who brings a starry night. As an Archangel she descended the colorful path of the rainbow that connected sky with earth. She gave her name to the early spring flower, the beautiful iris.
